And easy maintenance. Ray's onboard SmartCycle™ control learns optimum efficiencies as it goes and its digital diagnostics appear in plain English, not code. Configuring Ray for natural gas or propane simply involves the turn of a screw. Its symmetric air to fuel coupling requires no converting kit, stocked parts, or field adjustment—even for altitude. Plus Ray eliminates the need for primary/secondary piping on retrofit jobs (see RETROFIT TAB), saving installers a day or more on installation. Its cast iron heat exchanger is compatible with any pH system water and any type of glycol used in radiant systems (see WATER PH/GLYCOL TAB).

In the real world, with all the demands of the worksite, time isn't always taken to thoroughly measure the water pH (acidity) of the heating system. This can spell trouble down the road for aluminum-based boilers. But since Ray is compatible with any water pH, you never need to worry. And Ray's cast iron heat exchanger is compatible with any type of glycol. That means you don’t have to worry about your radiant heat system becoming contaminated by inadvertent use of the wrong ethylene. Aluminum boilers can fail with the use of the wrong glycol or an incorrect pH level. Sure, every boiler eventually needs servicing; however, Ray is engineered to save you the hassle of unexpected or emergency service call-backs.
Older hydronic systems with their large total water volume are no problem for Ray's power. So you can bring state-of-the-art advances in technology to the charm of older designs, all without sacrificing efficiency and fuel savings. SmartCycle™ delivers digital control boiler set-up to older multi-zone thermostat systems without needing to install additional controls. And because Ray is literally strong as iron, there is no need for primary/secondary piping to control flow rates—saving a day of piping on some retrofits. Add to that Ray’s compatibility with any water pH and any type of Glycol (see GLYCOL TAB) and you’ve got a system that’s ready to move in to any neighborhood.
The substantial mass of a Ray cast iron heat exchanger provides additional thermal mass that boosts condensing efficiency performance. (Similar to the effect of concrete over PEX piping in radiant heating systems.) With fuel savings being at the top of consumer demands, it just makes sense to start saving at the point of the appliance. Aluminum boilers are lightweights when it comes to contributing to over-all thermal mass. And Ray offers the simplicity of glycol compatibility (see GLYCOL TAB) as well as the convenience of SmartCycle™ (see SMARTCYCLE™ TAB) making this system the heavyweight champion for both radiant heat and traditional systems.
